New Docureportage for Internazionale

It has been more than 300 days of non-stop protests in Georgia. No pause, not a single day of rest. Citizens continue to rally for democracy as nationwide municipal elections are to be held in October – tireless and resolute, with no end in sight.

This reportage, for Internazionale, tells the story of a group of journalists and activists in Tbilisi who have been fighting for freedom of speech and a free press, in light of censorship and punishment. By Bernadette Weber in collaboration with Ketevan Vashagashvili. Commissioning Editors: Giulia Testa and Jacopo Zanchini.

ZeLIG Admissions 2025-2028

Last week, I had the great honour of serving on the admissions committee of my documentary alma mater, ZeLIG School for Documentary, Television and New Media, alongside film director Marie Wilke and Emanuele Vernillo, head of the education programme.

We had the immense pleasure of welcoming 45 talented emerging filmmakers to Bolzano, 30 of whom were finally admitted to the upcoming three-year programme. It was a difficult yet inspiring decision-making process, and I would like to thank everyone who was a part of it – the candidates as much as the whole ZeLIG team, especially ZeLIG director, Gronauer Heidi and head of marketing and communications Erika Waldboth, who made each day of our stay so much more joyful.

To the new ZeLIG students: I wish you an enriching experience filled with inspiration, perseverance, courage, and meaningful friendships over the coming years. The world needs good documentary films — and documentary film needs curious, creative, and thoughtful individuals to make an impact, both within and beyond the ZeLIG universe.

See you all again soon, hopefully!
